Oral Roberts University Marketing Content Writer

ORU is searching for a marketing content writer to provide strong, clear and lively editorial/journalistic and marketing copy. This includes concepts and ideas to help drive the university’s editorial strategy and strengthen the university’s core narratives, reputation, ideals and educational experience.

Responsibilities:

  • fill the role of a strong storyteller

  • be able to write content and provide editing and proofing skills for multiple media outlets including print, digital, advertising, web, email, radio and other cross-university communications.

  • ensure consistency in voice, tone, and style across marketing and other written materials

  • contribute to the ongoing university goals by spotting good, relevant and timely subject matter to tell the story of the university

  • assist the business development team by providing specified support to teams within the marketing department to facilitate efficiency, attain goals, and assistant in long-term growth of the organization

Education/Background: A Bachelor’s degree is preferred in either Journalism, English, PR/Advertising, Marketing, Strategic Communications

Skills and Experiences:

  • Computer experience required including MS Word, Excel, and Power Point

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify inconsistencies across grammar, brand, style and tone

  • Ability to adapt messages to various audiences

  • Ability to maintain an eye for detail under stressful conditions associated with project deadlines

  • Requires excellent reading, spelling, grammatical, verbal, written/editing, customer service and interpersonal skills

  • Knowledge of Associated Press Style Guidelines helpful

  • Must be self-motivated and have the ability to effectively balance and prioritize multi-tasks in the midst of a high-paced office environment across a variety of project assignments

  • Must maintain a professional demeanor at all times and demonstrate the ability to work independently with minimal supervision

  • Must have the ability to effectively work with a wide variety of people helping to form a cohesive and pleasant work environment

  • Must be able to build trust with customers, collaborate with others, solve problems creatively and demonstrate high integrity

Schedule: Full-time, normal working hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm
