We’re pumped to have another person joining our 36ºN team! Laura Orwig is the new community associate, and she’s already learning the ropes! She’ll be the first point of contact for members and guests up at the front desk. Next time you’re in the space, make sure to stop by and give her a warm hello.
Until then, read a little bit more about Laura here:
Where are you from and how did you end up in Tulsa?
I'm originally from Waco, Texas but moved to Tulsa after my husband was offered a spot in the Tulsa Remote program.
What’re your favorite things to do in your free time?
I love to spend my free time outside, whether it be running, hiking, camping, swimming, or biking!
Favorite local restaurants?
So far my favorite local restaurants are Andolini's and Rose Rock Microcreamery (ice cream counts, right?).
If you were to start your own business, what would it be and why?
One day I actually do hope to start my own business, kind of. I want to open a nonprofit that provides services to minor survivors of human trafficking because I feel very strongly about the injustice of trafficking, and there are limited resources to victims under 18.
Favorite memory of 2019 so far?
My favorite memory of 2019 so far has been traveling through the US in an RV with my husband. In 2018 we were able to remodel an old RV and take a year-long trip to visit 38 different states!
What song would you sing at Karaoke Night?
I'd probably have to sing Walking on Sunshine by Katrina and the Waves on Karaoke night. It's one of my feel good, life motto songs.
If you could splurge a whole paycheck on any store, which store would it be?
Could I spend it on a trip instead? :)
What are three things you would take with you on a deserted island and why?
My husband (he's a pretty great guy), and my two cats (they're basically my children).
What characteristics do you most admire in others?
I most admire people's adventurous spirits. They inspire me to explore more and make this life the best it possibly could be.
