Voice 3: She says, "Oh my god." She said, "We got to go." And I was like, "What?" She said, "The drive-in's on fire."

Voice 5: We checked the market. We saw demand. We checked with customer base. They showed demand. We launched the product and it just didn't move the needle like we thought it would.
Dustin: And we're back. Hey, it's Dustin Curzon. I'm the Executive Director of 36 Degrees North. Welcome to season two of The F Word. If you haven't heard season one of The F Word, go back, stop, listen to it right now. We had some awesome stories of entrepreneurs. We covered new companies like Consumer Affairs, we covered legacy companies like NORDAM. They've been around in Tulsa for years. We covered every day brands like Tropical Smoothie and Josh's Sno Shack and Topeca. These companies that you see every day. We got to hear the stories about what make these companies work. What were the failures? The obstacles that these entrepreneurs overcame to make these companies where they are today. Tons of great stories so go back and listen to them. Here today we're here to talk about season two. With me is Lauren King our awesome producer for season two.
Lauren: Hey, hey.
Dustin: Hey, Lauren. All right. Season two, season one was awesome. Season two is going to be even better.
Lauren: Oh, it's going to be so great.
Dustin: Tell us a little bit about what we should expect in season two of The F Word.
Lauren: Season two. I'm just so excited. I wish I could just release all of the episodes right now at once because it's a season you would want to binge listen to. A few ones that stand out to me, one Mike Bausch, founder of Andolini's. He's going to talk all about their expansion into all the different suburbs around town. So much success with that company, spinning out different brands. Brilliant, brilliant entrepreneur. Also I have Sarah Gould who is one of the co-owners of KKT Architecture. She has great insight on women stepping into leading roles in male dominated industries. Another one is Blake Smith who owns the Admiral Twin. Actually his dad owned the Admiral Twin before he did so he's been around the theater industry for a long time and he dissects just the changing landscape with movies and theaters, everything that's shifting and what he's learned in that process. A ton of other entrepreneurs joining us. It's going to be a really great season. Lots of good insight from really successful Tulsa business owners.
Dustin: Okay, so I haven't heard any of season two. I always like to be surprised like everybody else so Lauren, you're the only one who's heard them. What is something that listeners are going to take away from this year?
Lauren: That's a great question. I think the biggest thing people will walk away with is this feeling of I am not alone. I think entrepreneurship can be really isolating and we tend to get in our little bubbles of working really hard and we're just grinding it out and trying to make it happen. It's easy to think that you're the only one experiencing the problems you're going through. I think what you'll hear is that these leaders in business in Tulsa weren't just lucky. They didn't just get to where they were today easily. They've screwed up a lot. They've made a lot of poor decisions. They've experienced failure that was just out of their control. I think you'll see that every entrepreneur faces really similar problems. They have just such great insight on what they did to overcome those problems. We're talking about HR stuff. We're talking about hiring and scaling and poor decisions with which direction to take the company. Lots of things I think that are common to all entrepreneurs that will make people realize, "Okay, this is not unique to me and I can overcome and keep pushing forward. I can make this happen."
Dustin: Yeah, it's really easy to look at these companies that are successful and think that they never had any problems or they had it all figured it out.
Lauren: Oh my gosh, yes. Yeah.
Dustin: We hear every time over and over again that no, I'm just making it up as I go.
Lauren: Yeah, and you only see the headlines. You see the big grand openings in the Tulsa World or you hear of how much revenue they brought in and you're like, "Oh my gosh. That's amazing." But you don't hear about the crappy stuff.
Dustin: Absolutely. Okay, well let's get down to the important part. How do you get season two? Well, we're going to release an episode right now and then we'll be releasing episodes every week until we run out of episodes. So we're really excited about it. It's a great time of year to be releasing this season with the holidays coming up, people traveling. Download all the episodes. Plus, it's just that time of year where people are reflecting on, "Okay, what happened this year? What's going to happen next year?" This is a great time to just get inspired, get ready for 2019.
